However, many users often neglect to perform regular maintenance on pumps during use, resulting in shortened equipment lifespan, decreased efficiency, and even sudden failures. I. Daily Inspection and Basic Maintenance of Pumps
1. Pump appearance inspection:
Before starting the pump, check whether the pump body and connecting components have cracks, rust, or leakage. Pay special attention to whether there is dripping or leaking at the mechanical seal. If any abnormalities are found, stop the machine immediately for maintenance. For outdoor-installed pumps, check whether the protective cover is intact to prevent rainwater or foreign objects from entering the motor.
2. Maintenance of the pump lubrication system
The lubrication of the pump bearings is the core part of maintenance. It is recommended to replace the lubricating grease regularly and use the grease specifically for pumps. Before adding oil, it is necessary to thoroughly remove the old grease. The amount of oil added should be 1/3 to 1/2 of the volume of the bearing chamber. Excessive oil will cause overheating.
3. Monitoring of Pump Vibration and Noise
If abnormal vibration or harsh noise occurs during the operation of the pump, it may be a sign of worn-out impeller, bent shaft or damaged bearings. It is recommended to use a vibration detector to regularly record data and establish a device health record.

1. Maintenance of pump impeller and pump chamber
The impeller of the pump should be disassembled and inspected for wear every quarter, especially when conveying media containing particles. When severe cavitation pits appear on the thickness of the blades, they need to be replaced. The accumulated dirt in the pump chamber can be cleaned using a dedicated cleaning agent for circulation cleaning. For stubborn water垢, mechanical removal is required but avoid damaging the flow channels.
2. Treatment of Pump Mechanical Seals
The failure of pump mechanical seals is one of the main causes of pump malfunctions. During maintenance, it is necessary to check the wear marks on the stationary and moving rings, and replace the hardened and deformed sealing rings. Before installing the new seal, the shaft sleeve should be cleaned with alcohol, and it is important to ensure that the compression of the spring meets the standard.
3. Maintenance of Pump Motor System
Measure the insulation resistance of the pump motor annually and clean the cooling air duct of the pump. For pumps with variable frequency control, regularly check the oxidation condition of the pump cable connectors and use compressed air to remove dust from the control cabinet.

1. Winter Anti-freezing Measures for Pumps
In cold regions, after stopping the pump, completely drain the water remaining in the pump body and pipeline. For equipment that has been out of service for a long time, inject anti-freezing fluid (such as ethylene glycol solution) for circulation protection. It is recommended to install electric heating tapes on outdoor pipelines.
2. Waterproofing Scheme for Pumps during Rainy Season
If the humidity exceeds 75%, it is recommended to operate the motor for dehumidification or place desiccant in the control cabinet. Check if the waterproof rubber gasket of the junction box is worn out; if necessary, apply insulating protection paint.
3. Maintenance during irrigation period for agricultural water pumps
During the irrigation season, clean the water intake filter of the pump every two weeks, check the tension of the belt in belt-driven pumps, and pay special attention to the leakage adjustment of the stuffing box in mixed-flow pumps.

1. Analysis of pump performance decline
When the pump flow decreases by more than 25%, possible causes include: blocked inlet pipe (check the filter), excessive clearance between the impeller or insufficient rotational speed, etc.
2. Measures for Overheating Protection of Pumps
The pump should be shut down immediately if the motor temperature exceeds the designed limit. Common causes include: overload operation (check if the current exceeds the rated value), insufficient cooling (clean the dust from the fan blades), or lack of lubricating oil in the bearings (add the specified type of lubricating grease).
3. Handling of pump cavitation phenomenon
When a cracking sound is heard from the pump body accompanied by a sudden drop in efficiency, it is necessary to check whether the suction pressure is lower than the required cavitation margin. This can be resolved by increasing the liquid level, shortening the suction distance, or replacing the impeller with a material resistant to cavitation.
Pump maintenance is not merely a simple cleaning and oiling process; it is a comprehensive system engineering covering mechanics, electricity, and fluid mechanics. Formulating a reasonable maintenance plan can not only avoid sudden shutdown losses but also reduce the cost of major repairs. For pumps in critical positions, it is recommended to sign an annual maintenance agreement with a professional maintenance institution. Through precise detection methods such as spectral analysis of lubricating oil and laser alignment, ensure that the equipment is always in good condition.
