The Problem Of The Slurry Pump Not Delivering Water Even When Installed At A Lower Position

Sep 25, 2025

The installation of slurry pumps is generally done at a lower position. However, some customers have adopted a lower installation position but still failed to get water. What could be the reason for this?

The reasons might be as follows:

1. The pump is oversized, causing cavitation. When the pump is oversized, the machine will cause the pulp tank to cavitate. At this point, air enters the pump chamber and pipeline. Although the pump is still running, it no longer conveys the pulp, resulting in the overflow of the pulp tank. Many technicians may mistakenly think that the pump size is too small, but in fact, the opposite is true. One can replace with a smaller slurry pump or reduce the rotational speed. At the same time, it is also necessary to ensure that the installation height of the pump is lower than the height of the feed pipe and maintain a certain inclination angle to facilitate the timely discharge of gas inside the pump.

2. If the impeller of the pump chamber is blocked by weeds or woven bags, simply clean it properly to resolve the issue.

3. If the flow components inside the slurry pump are severely worn (mainly the impeller), it will result in insufficient pressure and failure to supply water. Even if water is supplied, the current will be abnormally high. The components should be replaced in time.

All of the above are common problems that often occur in practical applications. I hope they can be of some help to the friends who support my company!
