What Should Be Done If The Chemical Slurry Pump Is Severely Clogged?

Jan 19, 2026

From a working principle perspective, slurry pumps belong to centrifugal pumps and are mainly used in places where the slurry contains a high amount of solid particles. Currently, they are widely used in industries such as mining, coal, power, hydropower, and environmental protection for material transportation operations. When the pump is transporting media with a high content of solid particles, the erosion and wear will be very severe. So, what should be done when the erosion of the slurry pump is severe?
The common causes of erosion and wear of slurry pumps are as follows:
The pump body was damaged due to the repeated and long-term impact and friction between the solid particles and the flow components during the transportation process. Due to the continuous rotation of the impeller, the fluid was continuously discharged and sucked in, forming continuous operation. The flow components of the slurry pump were worn and corroded by the hard particles in the high-speed slurry. Sometimes the slurry contained a large amount of acidic substances, and under the combined action of cavitation and corrosion, the slurry pump was severely worn and corroded, resulting in failure.

Selection of repair methods for the scrubbed slurry pumps:
The traditional welding process requires detailed knowledge of the material of the components themselves, and the selection of corresponding welding materials for repair. This process is rather difficult to implement. On the other hand, replacing the components with new ones would result in a service life of only about 2 months for the new components, and they are also very expensive, which would significantly increase the production costs of the enterprise.
The sorre carbon nanopolymer material technology involves using a material with high wear resistance, extremely strong bonding force, and certain corrosion resistance for on-site repair. During the repair process, there is no need to dismantle the entire pump body extensively. The repair time and cost are much lower than those of traditional repair methods and also lower than the cost of replacing new components. However, in terms of service life, it is close to or higher than that of new components.
Case of actual application of slurry pump flushing and repair:
The model of a certain chemical slurry pump: LCB300-300-450. The flow channel of the pump body is in a honeycomb-like irregular shape, with a depth of approximately: 8 - 10 mm. The steps for on-site treatment and protection using this material are as follows:
Apply steam to the inner surface of the pump casing and the repair surfaces of the impeller guard plate, etc. for steaming treatment.
2. Use a sandblasting machine to perform sandblasting treatment on the area to be repaired;
3. Clean the flow passage areas and the protected positions after sandblasting with absolute ethanol.
4. After carefully mixing the SD3000 material in the prescribed proportion, apply it to the area to be repaired.
5. After proportionally mixing the SD7400 material, repair the eroded grooves and pits.
6. After the material coating is completed, the material is subjected to post-curing treatment by heating.
