 How to determine the model of slurry pump

Multiple factors such as the layout of the installation, terrain conditions, water level conditions, operating conditions, and economic feasibility comparisons.

Consider selecting horizontal, vertical, or other types of slurry pump models.

Horizontal pumps: Easy to disassemble, assemble, and maintain, but they occupy a large space and are relatively expensive.

Vertical pumps: Generally submerged in liquid, requiring smaller installation space and are more cost-effective.

Determine whether to use a slurry pump or another type of pump based on the liquid medium's properties.

Pumps installed in explosive areas should use explosion-proof motors according to the explosion zone classification.

Determine the matching motor based on the slurry pump's vibration level (motors are available in 220V and 380V voltages).

Based on flow rate and head height, decide whether to choose a single-suction or double-suction pump, a high-speed or low-speed pump.

Multistage pumps are less efficient than single-stage pumps. If both options are feasible, a single-stage pump is preferred.

After determining the pump series, use the maximum flow rate (with a 5%–10% margin) and the required head as the two main performance parameters to identify the specific model from the performance chart or series characteristic curve.

Once the slurry pump model is selected, for pumps handling media with physical or chemical properties similar to water, refer to the relevant product catalog or specification to verify whether the normal operating point falls within the pump's preferred working range and whether the effective NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) is within the acceptable range.
