1.Closed Impeller:

Comes in two flavors:
Single-suction (one intake side)
Double-suction (two intake sides - moves more liquid)
2.Open Impeller:
Basically just blades attached to a central hub - no covers on either side.
Super simple to make but not very efficient.
Good for dirty liquids full of gunk or stringy stuff.
3.Semi-Open Impeller:
Has a back cover but no front cover.
Handles liquids that might gunk up or have floating particles.
Efficiency is middle-of-the-road - better than open but worse than closed.
