Design concept of submersible sewage pumps
In a typical centrifugal pump, power always increases as the flow rate increases. That is to say, the power curve is a curve that rises as the flow rate increases. This brings a problem for the use of the pump: when the pump operates at the design point, generally speaking, the pump's power is less than the motor's rated power, and the use of this pump is safe; however, when the pump's head decreases, the flow rate will increase (as can be seen from the pump's performance curve), and the power will also increase accordingly.
When the flow exceeds the design flow rate and reaches a certain value, the input power of the pump may exceed the rated power of the motor, causing the motor to overheat and burn out. When the motor is operating under overload conditions, either the protection system will act to stop the pump from rotating; or the protection system will fail, causing the motor to burn out.
The situation where the pump's head is lower than the designed operating point head is quite common in practice. One scenario is that during pump selection, the pump's head is set too high, but during actual use, the pump operates with a reduced head; another situation is that the operating point of the pump is difficult to determine during use, which means the pump's flow rate needs to be frequently adjusted; and yet another situation is that the pump needs to be used at different locations frequently. These three situations may cause the pump to overwork and affect its reliability in use.
